1 year almost!

Gush! It's almost a year and i haven't updated this! Not so good... but on the other hand i've been bz with other things --- like C# on the run. Although i'm still active working with delphi 'cuz it's the primary tool we have at work, i've been involved in some projects were VS is needed and it's fun too! I have to make up the time i've been disregarding this blog... i've been updating the more personal blog but not this one... not a promise but try to be active on this one... good new year's resolution.

New year, new challenges...

Hello, people! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A new year and new challenges... and for Delphi as well!
Hopefully, codegear is a solution Borland hoped for and waited for.

I have been reading a lot of C# articles lately and it's not so weird that
D folks feel at home with sharp with it's so much similarity with D.
It could be psychological for the fact that Anders Helsberg has been one of
the "fathers" to D.

Although i feel at home with sharp, but i can't deny that D still rocks!

Delphi, whert arth thou?

Just been to a 4 days course on C# last week. It was fun but at the same time frustrating. Fun in the sense that Microsoft is really putting all energy on developing it's developers tools like Visual C# which is the tool used on the course. Frustrating in the sense that it feels like on today's stand on "Code Gear", it would like be another "Inprise"-case. And this is sad since i have been following Delphi and became such a "disciple" that it's quite hard to abandone a well mastered masterpiece.

I am not a hard core fanatic on a special language on a professional point of view but like others i have my favorites. I worked with Microsoft's Visual C++ before with MFC in version 4.0 and at that time it felt endless working with GUI and all the Ctrl+W keyboard strokes. Microsoft has really gone far with the GUI thing since then. With .NET 2.0 controls, it has gone even better--- at first glance anyway. And .NET 3.0 is on it's way...

Then i'm wondering, how would "Code Gear" cope up with this? Anxiously after the course, I rush onto my comp and started D2005 and tried to create all the exercises on D2005 WinForms part--- but to my disappointment, D2005 does not support .NET 2.0 ( i don't find any patch anyway --- the latest update i have is 3.0 and this couldn't be old ). I encountered this un-informative error message. If you find a solution to this error, please don't hesistate to send me some tips.

My point is, as a developer, if i don't get the right tool then i certainly switch to another which gives me the result i want to achieve. And if "Code Gear"'s solution to this is D2006, then it's a tough decision 'cause Microsoft's strategy is opening it's dev tools to the public with the release of the express solutions.

Anyway, let's just take it this way, it's good to have a lot into your luggage than nothing at all.

still alive...

Unfortunately we only have 24 hrs. a day, 7 days a week! If only we have at least 32 hrs. a day and 10 days a week, should time be enough?

I don't think so... so that's why, i always wonder how the heck other people got to fill there bloggs and i don't!?

Anyway, i just want you to know my dearest readers that i'm still alive and time is not just enough for me to fill in this site... I really would like to start with this TAction thing but i got a lot of actions myself so i don't cope up with it.

I just read other people's blogg and it fascinates me how tightly they manage to fill it up everyday! I should take these routines and do the same. Recently i was at Nick Hodges blogg and found this lovely pic he published and i intended to do the same. Just look at the pic....
isn't she nice, specially what the shirt says! It's good to know that Delphi is alive itself and keeps on rockin'!

Coming soon...

It's been a long dream of mine to publish out a project on the net. And it's about time soon to do that. I'd like to post a project that evolves TActions in Delphi...and hopefully get some feedbacks from you, my dearest viewers...

Delphi meetup in Stockholm...

The Delphi meetup in Stockholm was a success, i think. I'm looking forward more of such a meetup in the future.

Here are some links that would probably interests you. Thanks to Fredrik Haglund, organizer and working at Borland sweden.
